A sample of n moles of an ideal gas is contained in a closed system of fixed volume V m³ at pressure P Pa and temperature 27.0 °C.
If the gas is heated to 327.0 °C, what will be the pressure, in Pa, at this new temperature?
Assume absolute zero is at −273.0 °C
A) (327/27)·P
B) (27/327)·P
C) P
D) P/2
E) 2P

The correct answer is E) 2P.
With volume and amount fixed, pressure is proportional to the absolute temperature.
27 °C = 300 K and 327 °C = 600 K. The temperature in kelvin doubles, so the pressure doubles to 2P.
Option A (327/27) is what you get if you forget to convert to kelvin.
