A gas, confined in a rigid cylinder and maintained at a temperature of −3 °C exerts a pressure of 9 atm. What pressure would the same gas exert if it were heated to 27 °C?
A) 12.5 atm
B) 8.1 atm
C) 9.6 atm
D) 10 atm
E) −81 atm

The correct answer is D) 10 atm.
Rigid cylinder means constant volume, so pressure is proportional to the temperature in kelvin.
−3 °C = 270 K and 27 °C = 300 K, so P = 9 × 300/270 = 10 atm.
The −81 atm option is what you get if you use degrees Celsius. A negative pressure should tell you something's gone wrong.
